All about gratitude!

I like this new challenge, I just noticed a few days ago and today I was nominated. So I will post my day thanks in here and on Facebook, and I ask you to join me and post your daily thanksgiving on here as well.
God's been good so Let's go there!

Spanking, corporal punishment, whooping... What's your thought.

So have you heard, NFL player Adrian Peterson have been indicated on child abuse. Everyone one is voicing their opinion of spanking

http://www.cnn.com/2014/09/16/living/spanking-cultural-roots-attitudes-parents/

Growing up with Nigerian parents, spanking was a normal practice; my mom was a teacher so it was more from mom, (I can really only remember one time my dad spanked me), but my mom didn't need any help in that department, ha ha.  Sometimes I felt the bit down was justified, other times I felt the punishment didn't fit the crime, but that's just me.
Now with my daughter, I sometimes do struggle with the line, you know when to and when not to spank? I tend to be of the school of thought that says spare the rod and spoil the child so if to is already answered, but I so believe that there's a limit. I don't believe it should be a regular practice, obviously if you have to spank your child everyday to get them to do the right thing, then biting/ spanking is not working.
So my African family knowing our culture and all what do you think: Talk to your child and take away privileges (as the only means of disciplining a child), or sometimes spanking is necessary?
